Miniature Pinscher Colors

 

Some owners wonder whether or not they have a pure Miniature Pinscher because their dog has a white spot. In fact, the American Kennel Club’s standard for Miniature Pinschers recognizes white spots not to exceed ˝ inch in their longest dimension.

 

Although Dilute Red, Blue, Tan and Silver Min Pins are becoming more popular, beware of purchasing one.  My understanding is they cannot be shown in the AKC competition ring, though they are allowed to compete in AKC obedience and agility competitions.

 

Text Box: Look at beautiful new baby girl Zoey, and the color of her coat. I know Zoey’s mommy Somar is proud! A thumb print, or patch of black hair surrounded by rust on the front of the foreleg between the foot and the wrist is another trait that will have your dog disqualified.  On chocolate Min Pins, this will appear as a chocolate patch.  

 

Of course, your Min Pin can be a wonderful companion regardless of her color. Just keep in mind that if you are planning to show, your Miniature Pinscher should be solid red, black or brown in color.
